Workshop Information & Format

When I was working at Lulu it was always evident that the more successful authors did their homework before they started the publishing process, which resulted in less frustration and better results right out of the gate.

And that makes sense. There’s much more to publishing than submitting your work to a printer, ordering a few copies and getting it out in front of your audience. Successful publishing requires planning and research far in advance. Manuscript preparation & completion, cover art choices, marketing research and printer selection should all be part of a preliminary plan to help make the publishing process easier and trouble free.

In this class we’ll cover what you should think about as you prepare your book for publishing, and why you should be actively working on this before you finish your book. I’ll also walk through the Pre-Publishing Questionnaires that I share with my authors in the beginning phases of our projects.

This introductory class is a great lead-in to the fee-based Planning Workshop (PS201), where we actually develop comprehensive publishing plans.
